Our Live moss Package comes with a variety of beautiful moss species, hand-selected to provide an unparalleled mix of texture, color, and form.

This may include species from the Dicranum family, Plagiomnium types, Bartramia Pomiformis, Leucubryum, Haircap moss, and many more. Each moss variety adds its own unique charm to your enclosed space, creating a captivating miniature landscape.

Please note that while we strive to provide a diverse mix of mosses, we cannot guarantee the inclusion of specific species, as availability varies.

Caring for your Moss is easy, as these resilient plants thrive in a range of conditions. Provide a moist environment, indirect light, and the occasional misting to keep your moss happy and healthy.

Mosses are a type of Bryophyte, which is a non-vascular plant. Unlike other plants, moss has no internal veins transporting water and nutrients from the root system. Instead of roots, mosses soak up water directly through their tiny leaves. Moss grows small hair-like strands underneath called rhizoids, which look like roots but are used for clinging to surfaces, substrates, and even each other.

Since moss loves moisture, it makes them ideal candidates for terrariums and other humid setups like aquariums, vivariums, riparians, and even bonsai trees. Experimenting with different setups is always recommended to find what works best for your location and growing environment.

All mosses are hand-picked, cleaned, and soaked in fresh water. We do our best to pick out all the pine needles, twigs, and foliage, but some may remain, along with tiny insects.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Placement

  • Keep in bright, indirect light.
  • Avoid direct sunlight—it can overheat the terrarium.
  • If placed in a dark area, use a grow light (6000K LED) for support.

Temperature

  • Ideal range: 15-29°C (59-84°F).
  • Terrariums can tolerate some fluctuations, but avoid placing them in extreme heat or freezing temperatures.
  • Keep away from heaters, radiators, or air-conditioning vents to prevent sudden temperature changes.

Watering

  • Closed terrariums only need watering once a year.
  • If soil appears dry or moss feels crispy, lightly mist with distilled water.
  • Avoid overwatering—condensation on the glass usually means it has enough moisture.

Optional

  • Pruning: Trim overgrown plants to keep the terrarium tidy.
  • Dead Leaves: Remove immediately to prevent mold.
